Although I originally set this up to put up my own Podcasts eventually, for now I am going to put up info on Podcasts I listen to every week. They offer up some of the best on the web and are a lot of fun to listen to on a weekly basis. Take a listen!

Wait Wait

Every week we get Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me, a radio game show featuring our illustrious hosts Peter Sagal and Carl Kasell. On top of this entertaining duo, we get to hear three celebrity panelists as they compete to win weekly competitions based on that weeks news. Finally, each week there is a guest celebrity that gets to play ‘Not My Job’ (there are a wide range of guests). Take a listen, each week is entertaining and I catch myself laughing out loud in the car quite often. Download the Podcast here or subscribe to it on iTunes.

This American Life

Each week, This American Life brings several tales of whatever the theme for the week may be. Host Ira Glass interviews and just talks with stories that range from hilarious to downright depressing at times. Many times the stories are inspirational, but mostly, they are the true tales of average people in odd situations. Recently, Showtime picked up the stories and have translated them into a television show, but is still steeped heavily in This American Life. Take a listen, I wasn’t sure at first, but now I anxiously look forward to a new show every week! Subscribe at iTunes or check out the site to download current and past Podcasts.

Garrison Keillor

We’ve been fortunate as Podcast listeners to be able to finally get at least SOME of the weekly stories from Garrison Keillor, host of A Prairie Home Companion. Although the complete show is not available every week (due to copyright issues), we at least get about a 20 minute listen into the lives of the residents of Lake Wobegon! Whether at the Chatterbox Cafe or just inviting ourselves into the lives of the residents of the Lake, Keillor gives us weekly stories that give us 20 minutes away from our routine humdrum and let us imagine what it would be like in simpler times. You can Download the Podcast or Subscribe to it in iTunes. If you’ve never heard it before, prepare for a treat.

Martha Barnette

Each week, A Way With Words (hosted by Martha Barnette and Grant Barrett) use their many resources to answer listeners questions about grammar, word origins and plenty more. Sometimes the hosts can be a bit geeky and goofy, but they can answer almost any question about words and their meanings. On top of this, there is a word puzzle every week brought on by three different quizzicists which I can do well on some days and not so well on others. Download their Podcast or Subscribe at iTunes, it’s a fun and geeky 50 minutes.

Terry Gross

Finally, Fresh Air with Terry Gross has entered the Podcast world and that’s a very good thing. Fresh Air has been a great source of interviews that have such a huge range you never know what to expect from day to day. Fresh Air is broadcast everyday with a new Podcast for us faithful listeners. The only hard thing is finding 45 minutes on a daily basis to be able to focus on the interviews. It doesn’t matter who she interviews, they are almost always interesting. You can download the Podcast daily from the NPR site or you can Subscribe on iTunes. Take a listen, you won’t be disappointed!

Kevin Smith
Scott Mosier

Not for the weak of heart, Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier’s weekly SModcast is a very, very in depth look at the lives of these two friends, producer and director. There are no holds barred when these two talk about everything under the sun. It is interesting to get into the minds of these guys, but sometimes it’s just plain odd! I’ve been a huge fan of Kevin Smith’s movies and outlook on Hollywood / cinema for a long time. To hear it straight from the man himself makes it that much more interesting. I am warning you though, if you have any qualms with swearing or straight up talk about sex acts, you may want to avoid this one. You can download the Podcast at Kevin Smith’s site at Quick Stop Entertainment or you can Subscribe to it at iTunes. Check it out but be forewarned!

Comic Strip Live

Sadly, the Comic Strip Live Podcast isn’t updated as frequently as I’d hope, but I’ve heard some great comedians performances on this show. The Comic Strip Live Club in New York has been a stepping off point for tons of HUGE comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler and more. Each Podcast gives us a range of time from around 10 to 25 minutes as we get a part of new comedians shows. Download the Podcast or Subscribe at iTunes! (I think Jeff Caldwell is my current favorite)
